The 2008 Distance Training Program (formerly the Marathon/1/2 Marathon/10-Miler Training Program) is open to all Ashburn Area Running Club Members. The DTP is designed to provide coaching and organization for those people looking for a low-key training option that doesn't require a long drive to the long run. The program is designed and coordinated by experienced coaches with significant marathon and marathon coaching experience. It is tailored to a late October marathon, but can be modified to accomodate differing fall marathon choices as well as the JFK-50. 10-Milers are focused on the Army 10-Miler, while the 1/2 Marathon crowd seems to be looking at the Philly, Quantico, and Baltimore 1/2 Marathons

The DTP is $50 for new participants and $25 for returning participants. This cost includes a detailed training schedule (with long runs, interval sessions through the Summer All-Comer's Interval program, and additional weekly run suggestions). You'll have email access to coaches and the opportunity to tailor your program to unique issues you may face (e.g., travel or job constraints, an early or later marathon, etc.) Three seminars on training principles, hydration and nutrition, and race day preparation are also included. We will also hold a seminar on injury prevention. This program is not a mature, large "machine" with major volunteer support, water stops, etc., (though we hope one day it will be!), so we rely on participants to help out along the way to make it a great experience for everyone.

The DTP will kick off on Saturday, June 14 and schedules will be distributed at that point.

Your $50 or $25 fee can be paid by cash or check (payable to Ashburn Area Running Club). If you are not yet a member of the AARC, you will also need to visit the JOIN US page and complete the Club Registration Form. (2007 Club dues are $25 per person, and $40 per family.)
